Welcome to cultureClub.

This is a group dedicated to promoting cultural awareness through artwork. We feel that the more we know about each other and the world we all live in, the more we will realize that we are all alike, in that we are all human.

At first this group was started as an exclusively DA group. However, we realized that our purpose could be better served by making DeviantART an integral part of our system. Which currently includes DA and the cultureClub Website. In the near future, there will be an online magazine, cultureMAG, for members of cultureClub. And later on, an artgroup will be started, promoting various campaigns with different cultural themes.

cultureClub will initially be run on a task based system. Tasks will be set periodically, and on completion you will be moved up the membership scale. Once you become a regular member, you will start to be awarded points for participation and dedication. At the end of each quarter, prizes will be awarded to the point leaders. The points work as follows:

+10 points for placing the icon in your signature. If you do so, send a note to ~cultureclub, with something like "Gimme mo points" and then telling us you put us in your sig.
Deviations will be graded by a panel of 5 judges, and assigned a rating of 1 to 10 by each one. The average of the 5 ratings will be given to the member as a point value.
If you have done something for the DA community, or the community where you live, and you can prove it, send us a note. You will be awarded points based on how much your efforts have benefited the community. So if you are involved in the Meals on Wheels Program where you live, get a letter saying that you were/are involved. Then scan the letter in and send it to admin@culture-club.org. It's that simple

Prizes for point leaders are as follows:
1st Place - 3 month DA subscription
2nd Place - 1 month DA subscription

We are currently thinking of offering more in the way of prizes, so stay tuned for that one

Now for a description of the membership scale:

New members: Those members who have joined, but not yet completed any of the qualifying tasks
Junior Members: Those members who have completed at least one of the qualifying tasks, but not all 3
Members: Those members who have completed all the qualifying tasks, and may now compete for points and upload artwork directly to the group
Senior Members: Those members who have shown commitment above and beyond the call of duty by community involvement and/or participation in the website/magazine.
Staff: The people who keep things running



First Member Task

Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm pleased to announce the first member task for points. This will be a two week contest, starting on 4 Feb, 2003, and ending 2 weeks from that date. Your mission should you choose to accept it, is as follows:

Create a global flag for the entire world. When done, upload your piece to the cultureClub account, including your DA name in the title and/or description. Voting will be done via note. Please send a note to +devilmech with your two favorite entries, numbered 1st and 2nd. The winner of this task will be awarded 50 points. Also, please wait until the contest is over to place your votes. You never know if someone might slide something in right before the deadline




Joining cultureClub

To join cultureClub, simply send a note to ~cultureclub or +devilmech. After that start making kick-ass artwork that defines you and your culture

Also don't forget to join us on IRC. irc-dot-deviantart-dot-net server, the #cultureclub channel.

Lastly, check us out at the cultureClub Website. There's not a whole lot there as of yet, but in the following weeks, it will slowly morph into an extension of our dream
